Philosophy

Guided by humanistic values, and acknowledging the importance of one's wellbeing, my teaching philosophy is very much governed by the importance of student centred learning.

Considering the many factors that interweave to ensure a positive learning environment and ultimately learning, is essential. This sees me facilitate learning in a holistic approach, where each student and their opinion is valued and respected.

Being human we are all diverse, which is why it is important that learning experiences are too, diverse, engaging and relevant. Working to achieve the National Curriculum Outcomes, students should be given the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge to the best of their ability, through thoughtful and well planned lessons. As an open-minded and inclusive teacher, I endeavour to provide these opportunities to students, aiding in the development of well adjusted, considerate and successful students.

Introduction

My journey into teaching has been one rich with insight, challenges, support and growth. I have been driven and constantly inspired by the students and colleagues and consequent relationships, to develop the necessary skills to be an effective and supportive teacher.

In order to attain this I have needed to constantly reflect, experiment and expand in order to meet the needs of the students and the demands of the profession. I am still in the developing process; however, my school experiences have been a fantastic launchpad. Providing ideal growing conditions, they have enabled my teaching practices to take root, my confidence to grow, my creativity to bloom, and enthusiasm for teaching to soar; appropriately nourishing my learning as well as the students.
